Ikpeazu, PDP, stockpiling military uniform to rig Abia polls  – APGA

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has alleged that Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party had perfected plots to rig the forthcoming polls it their favour.

APGA  Chairman , Rev. Augustine Ehiemere who made the allegation Sunday at a press conference in Umuahia , said the party had uncovered the plot which is to be executed through the following ways :
” The use of fake military uniforms already purchased and stockpiled at a secret location which would be given to scores of carefully selected, trained and armed thugs who will work for the PDP to impersonate legitimate security agents.
“Use of Toyota Hilux vehicles fraudulently branded in army colour to carry the thugs dressed in military uniform and move round different parts of the state on the election day to intimidate voters and others on legitimate election duties.
“Selecting INEC collation officers from the University of Agriculture Umudike who have already been bribed to announce the results completed by the PDP “.
But in a swift response, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, chief Don Ubani, dismissed the allegations as “blatant lie from the pit of hell.”
Ubani said PDP had never contemplated such evil plot, adding that for APGA to nurse such a thought meant it was part of its strategies to rig the polls.
APGA had also accused PDP of ” bribing INEC officials with not less than N1 billion to secure original critical sensitive INEC result sheets. “
continuing  Ehiemere who was represented by his Deputy, Chima Onyekwere , said ” this we believe they had already done to secure the result sheets that were impounded by security agents on Friday “.
APGA also accused the PDP of “planning to burn more INEC offices in the state where the party is not sure the staff will cooperate with them “.
The party which said it had reported the matter to the relevant security agencies including an open letter to the Chief of Army Staff,  therefore,  called on the military authorities to be more vigilant.
APGA also demanded the posting of all Collation and Returning Officers recruited from the Michael Okpara University Umudike to other states, alleging that the have been compromised.
The party vowed to resist any attempt to rig out its candidate, Dr. Alex Otti.
APGA expressed shock and disappointment over the postponement of the elections by INEC, saying the action was a national embarrassment.
