Abia govt calls for arrest of Uche Ogah
* Alleges impersonation of presidency
* Your lied, clear your name first – Ogah
From Steve Oko, Umuahia
Abia State Government has called for the immediate arrest and interrogation of the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Dr. Uche Ogah, accusing him of impersonating the presidency.
Special Adviser to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the state’s Focal Person on N-Power, Mr. Chinenye Nwogu ,who made the call at a press briefing Sunday in Umuahia, accused Ogah of “fraudulently sending SMS messages to N-Power beneficiaries under the guise of the presidency”.
Nwogu who was flanked by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, was responding to the trending video of one Felix Obisike, allegedly arrested with already filled INEC result sheets during the postponed February 16 polls.
According to the video, the suspect identified Nwogu as his boss during the interrogation by suspected security operatives.
But the Governor’s Aide queried the authenticity of the said video, accusing Ogah’s men of coercing the suspect who he said was N-Power beneficiary to make such confessions.
Nwogu further queried the rational behind interrogatinga a suspect in the campaign office of Ogah instead of a police station, claiming that the alleged INEC result sheet was forced on the suspect by “the fake security men” at Ogah’s office.
He said the suspect innocently attended a meeting invitation purportedly by N-Power when some armed men descended on him and tortured him to admit he was in possession of incriminating documents including INEC result sheets.
Nwogu said the moment he got to know about the arrest and toture of the N-Power beneficiary, he quickly reported the matter to the Department for State Services, DSS who deployed its operatives to the venue to rescue the suspect.
He however said the suspect “is still in protective custody at the DSS office “, where he added, he is receiving medical attention.
Nwogu who claimed APC had severally tried to entice him to disclose to them the particulars of the 16,000 N-Power beneficiaries in Abia for political reasons ,raised the alarm over threats to his life for his refusal to oblige them.
But when contacted, Ogah denied impersonating the presidency, saying there was no way he could have sent any bulk SMS messages to N-Power beneficiaries when in fact, he did not have their data.
Ogah who spoke through his Media Adviser, Great Imo Jonathan, also denied that the suspect was interrogated in his campaign office.
He equally denied harbouring any fake armed security men, and advised Nwogu and “his foot soldiers to first clear themselves with the security agencies instead of looking in the wrong direction”.
Ogah challenged “Nwogu and his agent to tell the world how he took possession of INEC result sheets or is he saying it was Ogah who smuggleed it into his car ?”
He urged Abians to be vigilant and checkmate the antics of the governor and his men towards manipulate the forthcoming elections.
