BREAKING!!! Buhari sacks Onnoghen, appoints Tanko Muhammed as acting CJN

Despite court orders to the contrary, President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday afternoon, suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Waltar Onnoghen.

The President immediately announced Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed Friom Bauchi State as his replacement.
Muhammed has since been sworn in at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Acting CJN, Buhari said the action was in obedience to the orders of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, which was given on January 23.
Meanwhile the removal of Onnoghen as CJN in defiance to court orders has sparked public outcry with some critics describing it as “a coup against the judiciary”.
