Abia central : Don’t violate charter of equity, Orji tells Ngwa people
. Says Ikwuano /Umuahia clan shouldn’t be shortchanged

As political activities gear up for the February 16 senatorial poll for Abia Central , the incumbent Senator Theodore Orji, has asked the Ngwa clans in the zone not to violate the principle of Abia charter of equity that recommends power rotation.
The former Governor who spoke at the weekend while commissioning the Emede Ibeku Civic Center, said it amounts to gross violation of the spirit and letters of equity for the Ngwa nation to take the senatorial slot in the zone in addition to occupying the governorship seat.
He argued that he ceded power to Ngwa people in 2015 based on equity and justice demanded that they should respect equity in the forthcoming election.
Orji further argued that the Ikwuano /Umuahia bloc in Abia Central where he hails from would completely lose out in the power equation of the state should an Ngwa person take the senatorial slot.
His major challengers – Senator Nkechi Nwogu of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and Chidi Ajegbu of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, are both from Ngwa bloc in the zone.
Orji said the Umuahia /Ikwuano bloc comprising three councils, and the Ngwa bloc also comprising three councils go to the senate in turns .
According to him Senator Nwogu disrupted the single tenure arrangement by serving for two terms besides the four years she had served at the House of Representatives.
Orji who has consistently promised not to seek another term after his second tenure, wondered the basis on which Nwogu now wants to return to the red chamber for a third term when the Umuahia /Ikwuano bloc is yet to complete its own second term.
He urged the Ngwa nation to call to order, their sons and daughters jostling for the seat ,and allow the Umuahia /Ikwuano clan to complete its turn in the spirit of equity.
Senator Orji, therefore, called on his Umuahia kinsmen not to allow the Ngwas shortchange them otherwise the clan would go into political limbo.
” I am not recontesting for my personal interest but for your sake. If we lose the senate what do we still have?
” Ndi Ngwa won’t be Governor and at the same time take the senate. It’s not yet their turn.
“This fight has become a thing of insult and I know my people that we don’t tolerate insult .
“Nkechi Nwogu has been to the senate two times. I don’t know what she forgot there that made her come out again that we have not completed our turn. But she will fall woefully “.
He solicited their massive support at the forthcoming election, promising to attract more projects to the zone.
Meanwhile the people of Emede community have unanimously endorsed Orji as their consensus candidate for the senatorial poll.
Speaking on behalf of the people, former Deputy Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Chidiebere Nwoke, said Orji had done so much both for the community and the zone to deserve a return ticket.
He noted that attracted the road contract that linked the community to others parts of the state and sponsored the building of a civic center in the community.
