Be your brother’s keeper, Abia majority leader tells Ohuhu clan

The Majority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Engr. Chindu Orji has called on the people of Ohuhu Clan in Umuahia North Local Government Area to be their brothers keeper.

Engr. Orji made the call at the Otuama-Ejeogu Age grade Celebration held at Amafor Isingwu village square,Umuahia.

The Majority Leader, aka” Ikuku Abia, who is a special guest of honour at the ceremony,said that Ohuhu People hitherto are known to be pacesetters in all human endeavours,hence their been the first clan to produce the first premier of Eastern Region in the person of Dr.M.I.Okpara.

He retreated that recent events in Ohuhu land politically show that disunity has crept into Ohuhu Land.

He stated that the political desting of Ohuhu land in recent time is been determined people who are sons of Ohuhu land.

He urge them to embrace peace and unity for economic and political development of Ohuhu land .

Earlier in an address signed jointly by the chairman and Secretary of the Age grade Mr. Charles Emelike and Mr. IMO Ejikeme Thomas,said that the history of IZA -AHA ceremony dates back from time immemorial as what is on record today is that Okpokpo Age grade was the first to mount the rostrum in 1910 and Otuama- Ejeogu is the 34the Age grade to under take the initiation.

They egually stated that the IZA-AHA festival is a life time special cultural ceremony in the entire Southeast and even the western region of Nigeria.

For the Age grade it is the first in a life time of public appearance for recognition, acceptance in the Elders Circle a procedural transition from childhood to Adulthood in Igboland .

In their vote of thanks a prominent member of the Age grade Chief Emeka Sam Nwankwo, Mmiri na Ezoro Oha of Isingwu,thanked the special guest honour, friends and well wishers of Otuama-Ejeogu Age grade for finding time at this festive season to make the ceremony a remarkable success.
