Worried by the increasing crime wave and other related deviant behaviours associated with drug abuse , a group known as Mgbidi Leaders of Thought (MLOT) , has embarked on aggressive sensitisation of youths in Mgbidi communities on the dangers of drug abuse.
To this end,  the  group has scheduled a youth conference for all youths in both Ezinese and Ezineri Mgbidi Autonomous Communities in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The conference according to information from the organisers is scheduled for Monday  December 31, 2018 at Central School Mgbidi from 10: 00 am to 6:00 pm.
According to the information,  six different topics will be handled by professionals from different fields of life including security, medical and legal experts.
The theme of the conference is : “Re-orientation of Mgbidi Youths for Productive Future “.
Highlight of the event according to the details of the programme will be the unveiling of a scholarship programme by MLOT for undergraduates of Mgbidi extraction in federal universities.
Findings by Wawa News Global revealed that  a lot of sons and daughters of Mgbidi residing outside the communities have indicated interest in showing physical presence at home during the conference.
There are feelers that some of them who could not travel home for the Christmas holiday have vowed to be part of the conference no matter the cost.
It was further gathered that the news about the event had already sparked enthusiasm among the folks as they look forward to the conference which will be the first of its kind since the history of Mgbidi.
There has been a public outcry in the communities following the increasing cases of theft, alcoholism and other deviant behaviours by youths due to drug abuse.
A number of youths in the communities have reportedly taken to smoking of ‘weed’, intake of tramadol and ‘lacatomtom’ in their bid to get ‘high’.
Worried by the ugly development, MLOT,  has vowed to change the narrative and chart a new cause for Mgbidi youths,  hence the conference.
Wawa News Global recalls that MLOT, a forum  of progressives in the communities  has recently embarked on the rehabilitation of Mgbidi major road spanning from Onuokaekweke (Mmaku junction) to Adani.
The  group has also been responsible for the restoration of electricity in some parts of Mgbidi while making spirited efforts to ensure full restoration of public power supply in all parts of the communities.
Source of funding of projects by the group has been by willful donations by individuals members.
