. Claims APC owing him N25 million

The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Abia State, Ambassador Anthony Ubani , has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over an alleged threat to his life.
Ubani was until recently a governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress APC, before defecting to AAC.
In the petition to IG, he accused another former APC governorship aspirant, and a strong ally of Uche Ogah, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa ( SWAZ) of threatening him and his family members.
He claimed that Ukauwa attacked him in the house of the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Uche Ogah, when he (Ubani) came to step down for Ogah.
Addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Press Centre, Aba Road Umuahia, Ubani alleged that ‘SWAZ’ physicallly assaulted him in Ogah’s house and quizzed his manhood, leading to his hospitalisation.
He further claimed that after the assault, Ukauwa had consistently threatened to deal with him and his family members, hence the petition.
The AAC candidate in a petition written by his lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, called for the immediate arrest of Ukauwa, who he added, told him to disappear from Abia until after the 2019 elections.
Shedding more light on how it happened, Ubani said that he had a meeting with Ogah where he proposed to become his running mate.
He said after two unsuccessful talks with Ogah in Abuja, another meeting was scheduled at Uturu home of Ogah to fine-tune arrangements on his proposed stepping down.
Ubani said “Ukauwa and his thugs bounced” on him in the course of the meeting, giving him serious injuries in his private part.
“I was physically assaulted by a chieftain of the party, Chidike Ukauwa, and hospitalized; I have the doctors report”, he claimed.
Ubani who also claimed he was funding APC with his personal money when the party was almost deserted in the state, said he was being owed by the party.
He demanded N65million compensation from Abia APC or else “there will be no peace.”
Ubani said Ogah who is the party ‘s flag bearer is ” trying to reap from where he did not sow “.
He said he was yet to forgive APC leadership in the state for denying him the ticket after “defrauding me of N25million which I spent to finance the party’s activities and programmes since 2014.”
Ubani who said he was ready to lay down his life to liberate Abia from bondage, asked Gov Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ogah to shelve their governorship ambitions.
But in a swift response, Ukauwa dissmised Ubani as a political neophyte and desperado seeking for attention .
He said Ubani was never an APC member but an opportunist who wanted to ‘milk’ Ogah under the guise of stepping down for him.
Ukauwa said Ubani had on the said day came to Ogah’s house with his purported hungry supporters and thugs pretending that he came to step down for him.
He said Ubani’s mission was suspicious.
Ukauwa expressed shock that a man who came to step down was at the same time insisting that he must be adopted as Ogah’s running mate .
He said when “such unrealistic demand was turned down he started talking to Ogah rudely and issuing threats “and I told him not to talk to my principal like that in his own house “.
Ukauwa who denied beating Ubani asked him to quickly meet his doctors for mental examination over the bogus claims.
“I didn’t beat him, I only cautioned him to stop harassing my principal, Uche Ogah”, Ukauwa swore.
He said Ubani was broke and looking for cheap popularity by trying to blackmail Ogah.
” Ubani had even approached me for help saying he had only N3 million. Can you imagine somebody trying to be governor with N3 million?”
Ukauwa who stepped down for Ogah as aspirant of APC ,explained that the meeting at Ogah’s house was the second with Ubani after he had come to him requesting him to prevail on Ogah to nominate him as running mate.
“He begged Ogah to appoint him as his running mate in 2019” , a request Ogah did not oblige maintaining that it was the party and some stakeholders that would help to decide his running mate after the primaries.
Ukauwa urged members of the public to ignore Ubani who he said was only looking for how to make money from Ogah but “cannot succeed “.
He said Ubani had been hired by PDP and Ogah’s detractors to blackmail him by linking him with “fabricated assault.”
