FG shouldn’t make us think it’s privy to assassination attempt on Ekweremadu – S’East PDP youths

Miffed by the alleged hasty report of the police that the failed assassination attempt on Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, was rather a case of burglary incident, the South East youth wing of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned the Federal Government, not to tempt them into believing it was privy to the dastardly act.
The youths who stated this after an emergency meeting Thursday in Enugu said police’s hasty conclusion on the incident which they were yet to thoroughly investigate raised some questions and provided enough grounds for suspicion.
.”
South East PDP youth leader, Mr. Chidiebere Egwu together with the five states youth leaders in the zone who addressed newsmen after the meeting said “It is preposterous, irrational and morally reprehensible for anyone to conceive a plot to eliminate him (Ekweremadu) for whatever reason or differences.”
He warned the Federal Government not to toy with proper investigation of the incident which he said was a danger signal for Nigeria’s democracy.
Rejecting the Police preliminary report , the PDP youths urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Police to “conduct a discreet investigation on the sinister act to avoid being the suspect. “
He said “PDP in South East zone unequivocally and vehemently condemn the attempted assassination”, insisting that the suspects and their sponsors must not be allowed to go unpunished.
He described the failed attempt on Ekweremadu’s life as “barbaric and cowardly”, saying South East youths would not tolerate “any stories should something untoward happen to Ekweremadu “.
The South East PDP also demanded that security around the Deputy Senate President and his family be beefed up.
