The last is yet to be heard of the multidimensional crisis rocking the Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as members of the State House of Assembly are perfecting plans to impeach Gov. Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha has of late engaged in a running battle with the National leadership of APC particularly the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, following his insistence that his son -in-law, Uche Nwosu should fly the party ‘s governorship flag in 2019.
While Senator Hope Uzodimma has been submitted by APC as its governorship candidate for the 2019 poll in Imo, Okorocha made desperate but unsuccessful attempts to substitute him with Nwosu, hence his grouse with Oshiomhole who had, until now been his ally.
Wawa News Global gathered from a very reliable source that 22 out of the 27 members of the Imo State House of Assembly had already appended their signature on the impeachment notice against Okorocha.
The move according to our source was aimed at cutting Okorocha who has made more enemies than friends since he became governor over seven years ago, to size.
According to our source, the Lawmakers both of APC and the opposition are united in the project codenamed ‘operation stop Iberibesim ‘.
The source said :”The All Progressives Congress Lawmakers are furious they were denied Tickets to return to the House or proceed to the Federal House of Representatives. While the PDP Lawmakers see the move as an opportunity to correct the alleged Wrongs of 7 years of Okorocha’s maladministration.”
Gov. Okorocha’s popularity has been on reverse gear since after erecting the controversial multi million statue of ex-President Jacob Zuma of South African, as well as anti-Igbo postures .
His running battle with his Deputy, Eze Madumere has further alienated him from some of his ardent admirers and followers.
He had reportedly threatened to join forces with Nnamdi kanu of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, to expose some damming secrets about Nigeria leadership if pressed to the wall.
