Anxiety in Nigeria as Nnamdi Kanu vows to ‘unmask’ Buhari in new broadcast today
By Steve Oko
There has been heightened anxiety and apprehension in Nigeria particularly South East region as the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has vowed to “unmask ” President Muhammadu Buhari in his new broadcast today.
Kanu who disappeared since after September 14, 2017 military raid of his Afaraukwu Umuahia country home, made a sudden appearance in Jerusalem last week.
He also made a broadcast from Jerusalem last Sunday, October 21, and promised to “unmask ” Buhari in his next broadcast.
Kanu who was again spotted praying at the ancient Wailing Wall in Jerusalem on Friday, October 26, restated his resolve to “unmask ” the Nigerian President in his next broadcast billed for 6:00 p. m local time today (Saturday, October 27).
Meanwhile some residents of Umuahia have expressed fears that the Federal Government might declare another special military operation in the state.
They said the state was yet to recover from the Operation Python Dance of 2017 which claimed a lot of youths, fearing that Kanu’s utterances concerning the President might be held against the people.
This is as there is also a growing anxiety among other Nigerians about what the IPOB Leader meant by “unmasking” the President.
Folks are now anxiously waiting for the 6: p. m broadcast to get the latest about Kanu whose popularity among South East, South South people has refused to subside despite his forced absence over one year ago.
The IPOB Leader has consistently vowed to push ahead with the struggle for Biafra autonomy despite stiff resistance by security forces.
He has also continued to demand from the Nigerian Authorities, a date for referendum for Biafra independence, a demand that has always met brick wall.
Despite Nigeria Government’s proscription of IPOB as a terror organisation Kanu and his group have continued to enjoy international sympathy and support especially by Israel, Us and EU.
Although Israel has denied harbouring Kanu, his undetected escape to the Holy Land has remained a puzzle to the Nigeria security agencies.
