2019: Anti- APC group adopts Ogah for Abia guber
. Vows to work against Buhari
By Steve Oko
As political activities for the 2019 general elections gradually gather momentum, a socio-political pressure group known as Southern Nigeria Forum (SNF), has adopted the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Abia State, Dr. Uche Ogah as its sole candidate for the poll in the state.
This is as the group vowed to work against the second term bid of the APC presidential flag bearer, President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group in a press statement signed by its Administrator, Rev Okechukwu Obioha, said its decision to support Ogah’s governorship ambition was based on its conviction that he would “truly transform Abia State” if given the opportunity.
“After painstaking consultations with leaders and some stakeholders of Southern Nigeria Forum (SNF), Abia State Chapter has resolved to support and work with Dr Uche Ogah for 2019 state gubernatorial seat”, the statement said in part.
According to SNF Ogah’s antecedents and success stories in the private sector were incontrovertible evedience that, “his kind of person is what Abia needs to be put back on track “.
The group noted that despite the fact that it had already resolved to work against the APC at the center, it would support the party’s governorship candidate in Abia based on his personal merit and credibility .
According to the group, Ogah would have had the support of its teeming members irrespective of his political party as he has endeared himself to many hearts “by his works”.
The group noted that the protest vote against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State during the 2015 polls was because the party denied Ogah its ticket against the wishes of the masses.
It therefore, urged Abians to support Ogah’s governorship ambition for good leadership, economic development and infrastructural transformation.
SNF however said there was no going back in its resolve with other progressive groups across the country to vote out Buhari come 2019, arguing that Buhari does not deserve a second tenure judging from his performances so far which are fraught with nepotism and incompetence.
Meanwhile, Ogah has been nominated by the University of Nigeria Nsuka for an award of axcellence – “The Youth Motivator and people’s Entrepreneur”.
The award would be confered on him by the Department of History and International Studies during its national conference slated for 21st November.
According to the letter of intent from the university, the theme of the conference is : “RESTRUCTURING AND NATIONAL SECURITY”
The letter jointly signed by the Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof. Nnayelugo Okoro; Head Department of History & International Studies, Prof. A.N Akwanya ; and Chairman Local Organising Committee (LOC), Prof. Victor Ukaogo, the Ogah’s nomination for the award was in consultation with the staff and students and with the approval of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. C. Ozumba .
