Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, and member representing Isiala Ngwa North state constituency, Rt Hon. Martins Azubuike, has confirmed his nomination as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Dr. Uche Ogah.
He was formerly nominated by Ogah as his running mate for the 2019 governorship poll after a meeting Monday in his Onuaku country home.
A source at the meeting said the choice of Azubuike was a master stroke that would send the ruling party packing in 2019.
Azubuike who confirmed his nomination in an interview with Wawa News Global said he was humbled by the decision of Ogah to give him the opportunity to serve Abians in that capacity.
He pledged his complete loyalty to his principal and commitment in actualising his vision and dream for the state.
Azubuike said he was satisfied with the economic blue print of Ogah which he said would quickly place Abia on the global economic map and path way of growth and development.
He said Ogah would replicate his success story in the private sector while himself would bring to bear his wealth of experience in public service.
According to him their joint ticket is a nice blending done in the best interest of the state.
” I will work under the leadership of my principal, Ogah. I have seen his blue print of vision and mission. I will be very supportive so we can work together to win the election and bring about the desired change.
“With Ogah we will lay the foundation for a new Abia, a foundation for sustainable development, generation of wealth and creation of employment.
” He is coming from the private sector where he has created jobs and wealth. Abia will witness unprecedented transformation under his watch. “
Azubuike said Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu should begin to prepare his handover note as Abians would no longer endure him beyond 2019.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting of all APC candidates and aspirants that participated in the just concluded primaries, Azubuike said it was a huge success.
He said the meeting which was at the instance of Ogah was meant to settle all grievances arising from the primaries.
” It was a meeting convened by Dr. Ogah with a view to forging a consensus, build unity and heal wounds emanating from the primaries. This is to ensue we have a united party before going to the elections.
“Our primaries were keenly contested. There was no Victor no vanquished.The meeting was very successful and our Governorship candidate advised that we put the past behind and queue behind those who were successful. Every body agreed to work together in the interest of the party “
The meeting was massively attended by APC candidates for the forthcoming poll including serving lawmakers.
Prince Ikedi Ezekwesiri representing Umunneochi State constituency; and his Bende North counterpart, respectively described the meeting as very successful.
