. Says discodarnt tunes by S’East govs unnecessary

Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central zone has distanced himself from the discodarnt tunes by some Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leaders from South East over the nomination of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi as the running mate to the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, describing the hullabaloo as unnecessary.
Senator Orji in a chat with Wawa News Global said ,”Obi is eminently qualified for the position”, adding that his track record as Governor in Anambra State left no one in doubt of his capabilities.
Orji said Obi’s enviable records both in the private sector and public service were a testimony that he is a square peg in a square holet.
He described him as a proud Igbo son that deserves total support of the race at all times.
“Peter Obi is one of our own and one of the many first eleven we have from Southeast”, Orji said.
The Senator described the Atiku /Obi joint ticket as a perfect match and solid guarantee for PDP ‘s victory in the 2019 presidential poll.
Orji said the wide acceptance of Obi across Nigeria was a confirmation that he is a nice choice for the job.
According to him , the ruling All Progressive Party is already jittery over the Atiku /Obi ticket, a signal that PDP is sure to take over power at the centre come 2019.
Orji said Obi has intimidating profile and incontrovertible track record in good governance and enjoys wide popularity among Nigerians.
He expressed strong support for him adding that the South East caucus at the National Assembly would spare no efforts in ensuring the success of Atiku /Obi ticket.
His words : “What you discover in this young man is that whether within the fold of the aged or the young even the young at heart, they all have something positive to say about him.
” He has endeared himself, sold himself to the populace and it would have been an aberration if the candidate of our great party had overlooked him for someone else.
“He has seen it all at the highest level within the state and is therefore eminently qualified to hold the position of Vice President, even the President of this nation.
“I don’t think the brouhaha over his nomination should have generated such controversy especially because Peter Obi is one person that is vehemently interested in good governance and making the people to smile again, just like our candidate Atiku Abubakar.”
The former Governor, however, explained that contrary to misconception in some quarters, South East Governors are not against Obi ‘s nomination.
He said that at the appropriate time these governors will queue behind Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, adding that their emergence was ,”the handiwork of all PDP members”.
Orji pledged the unmitigated support of South East cacaus at the National Assembly for the Atiku /Obi ticket.
” I’m confident that the Southeast caucus in the National Assembly are solidly behind Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi and together they will make all Nigerians to be proud. I think that is the most important thing for everyone.
Orji therefore solicited the support of Ndigbo home and abroad for the success of the Atiku /Obi ticket which he said would tremendously advance the Igbo cause in Nigeria.
