Abia 2019: Why we don’t subscribe to zoning – APC
By Steve Oko
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has explained why it did not subscribe to any zoning arrangement in the power equation of the state.
APC Chairman, Donatus Nwankpa said the party decided not to adopt zoning because of the “urgent need to rescue the state from bad governance “.
Nwankpa who made the explanation while addressing newsmen yesterday in Umuahia said “Abia problem has gone beyond clanish sentiments”.
He alleged that the People Democratic Party,, PDP-led administration in the state had plunged the state into “economic stagnation”, hence the need for change of power come 2019.
On the grumbling by the Ukwa -Ngwa clan that voting APC will shortchange the zone in the power equation of the state as its candidate is from Abia North, Nwankpa said what was paramount was to rescue the state from stagnation.
Nwankpa who is also of Ngwa extraction appealed to his kinsmen to support the candidature of Dr. Uche Ogah who he said has the capacity to dislodge PDP in 2019.
He said APC needed a competent and popular candidate who can uproot PDP in the forthcoming poll, hence the choice of Ogah.
” Ogah is an irresistible candidate with intimidating profile. He has the followership and appeal to win. We need somebody who will transform the state.
” Abians should forget political affiliations and unnecessary sentiments and join hands with APC to chase away PDP in 2019.”
He further claimed that APC is the fastest growing party in Abia, a development, he said had made PDP jittery.
Nwankpa said the PDP-led administration should begin to prepare its hand over note “because Abians have rejected PDP “.
