MASSOB hails Peter Obi’s emergence as Atiku’s running mate
. Says it’s consulting to take final position over 2019 poll
. Insists on referendum for Biafra

The Uchenna Madu -led  Movement for the Actualisation of the  Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has hailed the emergence of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi as the running mate of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Atiku Abubakar.
MASSOB which said it had not changed its position on non participation in Nigeria politics, however said the development was in the interest of Ndigbo.
In a statement signed by the MASSOB Leader,  Madu,  the pro – Biafra group said the growing acceptance of the choice of Obi was a public testimony of his popularity and fitness for the position.
MASSOB which said its major concern was how to restore Biafra republic,  however added  it would not hesitate to take any action that might advance the Igbo cause.
The statement read in part :” The leadership of MASSOB congratulate Mr Peter Obi on his emergence as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate, though MASSOB does not believe in Nigeria project or being partisan in Nigeria politics, we acknowledged the acceptance of Mr Peter Obi by the millions of Nigeria populace through the eruption of joyous celebration that greeted his selection as Vice president.      
“MASSOB as a major stakeholder in Igbo affairs shall not derail any national interest that will benefit Ndigbo in Nigeria.
” We are still consulting and discussing with our Diaspora groups and other pro Biafra groups concerning our final position on next year general elections. “
 
MASSOB said there was no going back in the agitation for Biafra restoration, while restating its demand for a date for referendum. 
The pro -Biafra group, again,  called for peaceful dismembership of Nigeria to avoid unnecessary crisis, warning that  President Muhammadu Buhari might be the last President of a united Nigeria.
 
“Remember, MASSOB has declared that President Mohammed Buhari will be the last president of Nigeria. 
“We still believe that 2019 political crisis and our demand for referendum will usher in Biafra, Oduduwa and Arewa nations”.
