Ohanaeze youths hail PDP for choosing Peter Obi as Atiku ‘s running mate

. Says he’s prudent in resource mgt

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has commended the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP over the choice of former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Obi was late Friday afternoon nominated by Atiku as his running mate for the 2019 presidential poll.

Excited by the development, the Acting National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council ( OYC), Dr. Kingsley Dozie, issued a press statement thanking the PDP for sticking to its zoning arrangement which ceded the position to the South East geopolitical zone.

He said PDP had by the move given a serious sense of belonging to the zone , a gesture, he said would be adequately reciprocated at the poll.

OYC said Obi is competent for the job considering his antecedents both in the private sector and in public services.

The Igbo youth body also said Obi had no corruption charges against him anywhere, describing him as a perfect choice for the exalted position.

According to OYC, Obi’s success story as Anambra Governor, plus deep knowledge of economics and prudence in resource management will help recalibrate the wobbling Nigeria economy.

OYC restated its full support for any presidential candidate that is favourably disposed to restructuring Nigeria , adding that it is already in talks with other youth nationalist bodies on how to deliver pro -restructuring candidate at the poll.

“THANK YOU PDP FOR CHOOSING OUR SON AS RUNNING MATE TO ATIKU ABUBAKAR, IGBO YOUTHS WILL DO THE NEEDFUL.

“The National leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths worldwide ablely led by the Acting National President, Dr Kingsley Dozie has commended the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice president, Alhaji Atiku ABUBAKAR for choosing our Dear Son and Leader as a Vice presidential candidate in the the 2019 General Election.

” We will do the needful. We have started discussing and liasing with other youth ethnic nationalities on how to have a productive and people oriented election. To restructure Nigeria is our priority now and we’ll get it right this time.

“Former governor Peter Obi’s choice is great. He was not wasteful in the management of resources while serving as governor. His Excellency Peter Obi is a great choice.

“He will bring business intelligence into governance. He is not corrupt and as a governor, he was not wasteful. Igbo youths are very happy .

“Obi’s success story as a businessman would help in reviving the nation’s economy if elected in 2019: The decision to pick him, we believe is based on his outstanding performance as governor of Anambra state.

“He is a successful businessman and we expect his experience to translate into good governance for our nation. He will not disappoint Ndigbo in particular and Nigeria at large.
