Abia PDP senatorial primaries : Sen Orji, Ohuabunwa,  Abaribe win return ticket

Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central Senatorial district has secured his return  ticket to the red chamber after emerging at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries held Tuesday, October 2nd.

 The former Governor who was the only aspirant in the PDP senatorial primaries held  at the indoor sports complex of the Umuahia Township Stadium polled 489 votes out of the 500 delegates accredited for the exercise.

His Abia North counterpart,  Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who was also the sole candidate for his zone won by  741.
Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Chinedum Orji, and Hon. Chukwudi Apugo at the congress.
Similarly the Chairman of the South East Senate caucus and senator representing Abia South,  Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe polled 413 votes to coast to victory.

No fewer than five aspirants including two former Commissioners contested against  Abaribe but the three term Senator defeated them.
According to the Chairman of the Electoral Committee for Abia South,  Chief Peter Obi,  former Commissioner for Environment,  Solomon  Ogunji,  came second with 152 votes.
Former Speaker, Emeka Stanley polled 117 votes while Ikechi Mgboji garnered 73 votes.
Hon. Onyekachi came a distant last with six votes.
 Chairman of the Electoral Committee for Abia Central , Prince Ezekwesiri Ananaba who declared Orji PDP flag bearer in the 2019 election said five votes were voided.
In his acceptance speech Orji thanked the delegates for reposing confidence in him,  and promised not to fail the people.
He said his affirmation also was a sign of confidence by the people that he had performed.
Orji who said that so far he had 14 bills and five motions to his credit promised to do more if returned at the general election.
The former Governor also said no fewer than 180 undergraduates from the zone had so far benefited  from his scholarship scheme.
He urged the people to vote for him and all PDP aspirants in 2019.
