There is rising tension and uncertainty over the fate of the rescheduled governorship primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC)  in Abia State.
The exercise originally scheduled for Sunday has been postponed twice within 48 hours.
The APC Chairman in the state,  Hon Donatus Nwankpa had late Sunday evening shifted it to Monday saying the Congress Committee sent by the National Secretariat of the party had not been seen.
But on Monday,  the Chairman of the committee and former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly,  Hon David Doha apologised for the late arrival of the committee members blaming it on logistics challenges at the national headquarters of APC in Abuja.
He said the committee had met with the aspirants and critical  stakeholders as well as the party leadership and agreed to shift the exercise to Tuesday (today ).
Doha who said the party adopted direct primaries said distribution of sensitive materials for the poll would commence by 6:00 am today for onward movement to the political wards.
He said accreditation and voting would take place at once at the various wards insisting that it is only identified party members that will be allowed to vote.
But as at 12 :00 the sensitive materials were yet to be distributed,  leading to confusion and heated arguments at the party office Azikiwe Road Umuahia.
A concerned source alleged that the delay in the distribution of the material was part of the plot by some elements to rig out Dr. Uche Ogah who is adjudged the most popular aspirant among the contenders.
He fingered former Governor,  Orji Uzor Kalu who he claimed had gone into alliance with the Ngwa people to scheme out Ogah.
The source said Kalu who is also from the same Abia North with Ogah rather prefers to have his brother as Deputy Governor to a candidate from Ngwa instead of allowing Ogah who he feels may be hard to control.
An insider source told Wawa News Global that some elements in the party are afraid of Ogah because he may be independent minded if elected as Governor.
The source noted that Ogah seems to be the preferred candidate by the masses and will likely win if people are allowed to vote,  some forces which feel threatened are already working against his interest.
Wawa News Global could not extract any response from Kalu as the call put across to the Media Aide did not go through.
Meanwhile,  APC youths have threatened revolution should an unpopular candidate be imposed on the party.
The youths who spoke through their leader in Bende,  Kingsley Nduoma warned against any attempt to subvert the will of the people.
