Abia APC guber primaries : Com’tt chair denies receiving N100 m bribe

The Chairman of the Congress Committee in charge of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primaries for Abia State, Rt. Hon. David Iyoha, has denied receiving any financial inducement from any body for the purpose of compromising the outcome of the exercise.
The former Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly was reacting to allegation by candidates of Ngwa extraction that the Congress committee was bribed with N100 million by a certain chieftain of APC to favour a particular aspirant.
He said : ” If I see that kind of money will I look like this? “
He dismissed the allegation as an unfounded blackmail and challenged the accusers to produce their evedience.
Earlier in the day, five aspirants from Ngwa bloc addressed a press conference at Damgrate Hotels where they made the allegation.
Spokesman of the aspirants, Prince Paul Ikonne alleged that the Congress committee had been compromised.
Ikonne also accused the committee of doctoring the party’s register “to favour some aspirants whose names are not in the party register. “
Ikonne alleged that some APC leaders had been compromised to deliver a particular aspirant.
He appealed to the national leadership of the party to intervene.
His words : ” We are not comfortable with the whole exercise again, even though we acknowledge that the leadership of the party remains supreme in all issues within the party we want them to listen to our complains”.
