Ikpeazu polled 1991 votes out of the 2207 accredited delegates for the exercise held Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
He was however the sole contender in the race.
The Chairman of the Governorship election committee, Chief Raymond Dokpesi  who announced the result   said a total of 2350 delegates were slated for the exercise but  2207 were accredited.
He said 23 votes were voided . However,  193 could not be accounted for judging by the figures declared by Dokpesi, and no explanations were given concerning the discrepancy.
In his acceptance speech,  Ikpeazu thanked the delegates for giving him another opportunity to fly the PDP flag in 2019 .
He expressed hope his mandate would be renewed  at the general poll.

He also said three bridges including the first ever flyover in Aba had been built, while 611,000 children have been returned to school.
The Governor who said he intends to create 60,000 jobs between now and next five years boasted that Abia had become the “SME capital of Nigeria “.
Ikpeazu who expressed the confidence he would sweep the main poll in 2019 boasted that “no body will steal his mandate “.
