Breaking news : Lagos gov, Ambode contemplating to dump APC over alleged rejection by Tinubu for 2nd term ticket?
By Steve Oko
Rumor mills have it that Gov Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State may be planning to dump the All Progressive Congress ( APC) over alleged rejection of his re-election bid by his political god father and acclaimed National Leader of the APC, Alhaji Bola Tinubu.
Even though Wawa News Global could not independently verify the authenticity of the rumour, the speculation is already going viral on social media platforms.
According to an online blog, “wetinhappen.com.ng” the Governor has already hinted some of his aides of his intention.
The report has it that Tinubu has already tiped former Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikiforiji as replacement for Ambode in the 2019 poll.
It was further gathered that appeals by some APC chieftains to Tinubu to allow Ambode go for a second tenure met brick wall.
Peeved by Tinubu’s unfavourable disposition, Ambode who also enjoys a commanding popularity among the party faithful is said to be perfecting plans to pursue his political ambition in another party.
Ambode is said to be considering the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or the African Democratic Congress ( ADC) as his next political abode.
Recall that both Ambode and the former Speaker all hail from Epe ancient kingdom but it is not yet clear why Tinubu who was instrumental to Ambode’s emergence in 2015 has suddenly lost confidence in his once most -favoured political son .
Political pundits however believe the disturbing development may not be unconnected with Tinubu’s long-term ambition to remain the life political Pharaoh of Lagos State and the entire South West region.
