Abia PDP holds mega rally Sept 12

As part of efforts geared towards improving the electoral fortunes of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State ahead of the 2019 polls, the party said it had scheduled a mega rally on September 12.
PDP Chairman in the state  Chief Johnson Onuigbo who disclosed this at a press conference Friday in Umuahia said the event was meant to showcase the rising popularity and swelling membership of the party in the state.
Onuigbo said  PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus and other members of the national working committee of the party are among dignitaries expected at the event.
According to Onuigbo,  Abia State remains a strong hold of PDP,  thus,  the party is poised to sweep the 2019 polls across the state.
Onuigbo boasted that Abia would be a no go area state for other parties in 2019, claiming that other parties in the state are either comatose or non existent.
 “Abia is a PDP state with a lively party Secretariat. You hardly see a flag hovering around other parties in the state, no life there; but the PDP is always busy. Our party is a living political party”.
The PDP boss further explained that the high number of aspirants justtlig for the party’s ticket in different categories of election was as a result of assurances by the leadership of PDP that its primaries would be transparent  free and fair.
Onuigbo said the era of imposition and impunity in PDP had phased out.
“Our state  executive traversed the entire local government areas of the state assuring aspirants that we will conduct a free, fair , transparent, credible and verifiable primaries. That is why all the aspirants have confidence in the party.
 “We will allow everybody to express his/her inalienable right”, he said.
Wawa News Global reports that although some notable politicians in the  state including a PDP House of Representative member have switched camp to APC, PDP remains a popular choice in the state as some citizens associate the former with hardship and nepotism as well as unfavourablely disposed to Igbo cause.
