NUJ presidential race : Isiguzo flags off campaign Sept 4

A frontline presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),  Comrade Chris Isiguzo, will formerly flag off the campaign for his presidential ambition on September 4.
A press statement issued Wednesday by his  “Rescue Mission Campaign Organisation puts the venue of the exercise as the NUJ Press Centre , No. 1 Aba Road Umuahia.
No reason was given for the choice of Abia as the venue for the epoch-making event but analysts believe the Abia -born Enugu -based veteran journalist wants to explore  the blessing of home advantage.
Recall that his nomination form was purchased by the Abia State Council of NUJ in rare show of unalloyed support for his ambition.
Chairman of the Council,  Comrade John Emejor, had while handing over the form to him assured Isiguzo that Abia journalists would go to any length to ensure the success of his ambition at the forthcoming NUJ conference scheduled for Abeokuta,  Ogun State in September .

The statement signed by the Director General of the organisation, Alhaji Ali Atabor,  said Isiguzo’s manifesto would be unveiled at the event expected to  e witnessed by his teeming supporters from across the country.
According to the statement made available to Wawa News Global, the two time and incumbent National Vice Chairman of NUJ Zone C (South East), has already passed the screening for the NUJ number one position.
The  statement read in part :”Comrade Chris Isiguzo’s NUJ presidential campaign outfit, with utmost humility wishes to express her profound gratitude to well wishers, colleagues and supporters across the country for the great show of encouragement, prayers and solidarity during the recent and ongoing consultations to seek their advise on the Rescue Mission Project.
“In line with the electoral guidelines, and to the glory of God, having successfully scaled through the screening procedures, as undertaken by the highly respectable and professionally minded screening team, we wish to respectfully announce the official flag off of the presidential campaign of Comrade Chris Isiguzo.
“The campaign flag off will take place on Tuesday September 4, 2018, at NUJ Press Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, by 10am prompt.
“The achievements of Comrade Chris Isiguzo as two time Vice President of NUJ Zone C, his presidential mission statement and programme of action, would also be unveiled on that day.
“Rescue Mission Organisation wishes to restate her unwavering commitment to the redemption of our fledgling Union.
“This it intends to do through refocusing of NUJ administration to ensure effective leadership, to embark on review of the constitution to make for professionalism and remove ambiguities, to enhance the welfare of members, to reposition the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), to fight non payment of salaries by some media owners, and to catalyze the establishment of stabilization fund to end high rate of bankruptcy in the media industry with resultant loss of thousands of jobs by colleagues.
“We call on all concerned members of NUJ to join in this onerous mission to rescue our Union from ineptitude, lackluster leadership, dictatorship and division crippling the various councils. NUJ must be professionally run to earn her respect nationally and internationally with the welfare of members at the centre state of all its programmes and activities.”
