2019: ‘The church has powers to determine Nigeria’s president, – Rev Gabriel Michael
Fiery Christian cleric and the Superintendent of Kogi District of the Assemblies of God Church, the Rev. Gabriel Michael, has declared that contrary to wrong assumptions in some quarters, the church has powers to determine who becomes Nigeria’s President come 2019.
The Rev. Michael popularly known as Double Angel made the declaration on Tuesday while preaching at the Assemblies of God annual convention ( Peniel 2018) at Okpoto, Ebony State.
Speaking on the topic ” The Power of a Praying Church”, the cleric said “nothing becomes impossible on the altar of prayer”.
Michael who decried the apathy towards prayers by many Christians these days submitted that ” prayer remains the only weapon the church has to change the history Nigeria”.
He said that the fear of uncertainty over the 2019 polls could be fixed by Christians through prayer.
” With prayers the church can determine who becomes Nigeria’s President in 2019. If we in the North, South, East and West join our hands together we will decide who rules Nigeria in 2019.”
He noted that it is not just enough to obtain voters card but in addition to that he urged Christians to be very fervent in prayers for God’s choice of President to emerge in 2019.
The cleric recalled that it took ‘a Daniel’ to alter the power equation in Babylon as the king who came to power after his 21days of prayer and fasting had no choice but to set the Jews free from captivity.
” We should determine who sits on the throne. We shall not fold our hands and watch evil men and cultists to take over our government.
” The church has power to control thrones like Daniel did in Babylon. A praying church has power to root out evil rulers.
” A praying church dominates a city, controls the atmosphere, but when the church is weak the devil takes over the place. “
Rev. Michael challenged the Nigerian church to revive her prayer life if she must surmount the challenges of the endtime.
He also charged members of the church to take charge of their environment through fervent prayers.
” A praying church is formidable, indomitable, productive, progressive and a charismatic church “, he avered.
The convention was massively attended by tens of thousands of members of the Assemblies of God Church from across Nigeria and beyond.
National and international evangelists and renowned Christian clerics including the General Superintendent of the church, the Rev. Chidi Okorafor, Rev. Uma Ukpai, and Rev. Tim Baker, the Superintendent of Assemblies of God South Texas, USA are among the guest speakers in the convention which started since Monday.
The annual gathering popularly known as Peniel among the church membership has its theme for this year as ” Church Aflame “.
