Abia 2019: Uche Ogah declares for governorship August 28
By Steve Oko
Oil magnet and 2015 governorship runner-up of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State,  Dr. Uche Ogah,  will on August 28, declare for the 2019 governorship race in the state,  Wawa News Global can authoritatively report.
Ogah who was issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) following an Abuja High Court ruling presided by Justice Okon Abang in his favour, almost toppled Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu in 2017.
His swearing in  was however stopped by a counter order by Abia High Court before the controversy was finally put to rest by the Supreme Court which affirmed Gov.  Ikpeazu’s election.
But  undeterred by the  legal fireworks and political intrigues that stalled his bid to govern Abia,  Ogah,  is determined to push ahead with his political ambition but this time on the platform of the All Progressive Congress ( APC)  where he had defected to early this year.
A statement by his Media Adviser, Great Imo Jonathan, which was made available to Wawa News Global indicated that the business mogul will publicly declare for the exalted office on August 28.
The statement was however silent on the venue of the event but simply said it would be elaborate.
Ogah will be contesting the APC flag with the likes of Friday Nwosu,  Martins Azubuike, and former Deputy Governor,  Chris Akomas who had earlier indicated interest in the number one office in the state.
Popularly known as ” Abia Rejoice ” according to his campaign slogan since 2015, Ogah seems to be the preferred aspirant among the people.
His popularity among Abia electorates of various political divides has refused to abate as many still see him as a political messiah although some express reservations over his choice of party this time around.
The skeptics hinge their fears on the theory that APC is not widely accepted in the South East but the party has vowed to claim Abia come 2019.
However, zoning which was believed to be his major albatross in 2015 may no longer be a huddle as voters in the  state , according to investigations, now appear to be more concerned about good governance.
Ogah whose philliantropic gestures tower so high has consistently promised to revolutionalise the state if given the opportunity as governor.
The multi -billionaire said he would replicate his business exploits on the economy of the state and put Abia on the global economic map.
The statement which assured Abians of better living standards and good governance under Ogah read in part : “
After making his intentions known on the 3rd of August, at the elaborate gathering of APC leaders, comprising; all Ward Chairmen, all Local Government Chairmen, Secretaries of all strata, women and youth leaders at all levels, the State Executive and top party leaders, Dr. Uche Ogah will be making a public declaration on the 28th of August, 2019, in Abia State, at a venue soon to be announced.
“He hereby wishes to inform the “Great people of Abia and the general public that after due consultation and prayers, I have made up my mind to offer myself to serve Ndi Abia come 2019. Hence, an official declarations will take place on the 28th of August, 2019”
“By this announcement, Dr. Uche Ogah is putting all his supporters and structure leaders on notice. And as well inviting the general public to his historic public declaration on the said date.
“Venue will be made public in due course. ABIA REJOICE….”
