Revealed: How Ekiti election was won, what Abia PDP should expect in 2019

By Steve Oko, Umuahia

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Abia State, Senator Chris Adighije, has revealed that ex-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu was instrumental to the victory of Ekiti State Governor – elect, Chief Kayode Fayemi at the just- concluded governorship poll.

Senator Adighije made the revelation while addressing APC leaders in Abia during a meeting with Kalu in his Camp Neya country home at Igbere, Bende Local Government Area.

Adighije who was extolling the political indispensability of Kalu before the mammoth crowd said Kalu played a key role in APC’s victory in Ekiti governorship poll.

According to him, Gov. Ayo Fayose knowing the pedigree and capacity of Kalu had before the poll begged him (Kalu) not to come to Ekiti, a plea he said was turned down by the former Governor.

” You know what happened in the Ekiti election? Gov. Fayose begged Kalu not to come to Ekiti but he went. And you saw the outcome of the election”, he bragged.

Adighije said the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP-led administration in Abia was already jittery over 2019 elections because of Kalu’s political clout.

” If you go to Abia Government House now there is fever all over the place because they heard we are meeting at Igbere”, Adighije added.

The APC chieftain boasted that APC would sweep the Abia polls in 2019 as the party now controls the centre while PDP which enjoyed similar advantage in 2015 is now in the opposition.

He threatened that PDP would be given the same treatment it allegedly gave the opposition particularly Kalu in 2015 election.

Adighije charged APC members to work hard in their various wards , and not to be afraid of any intimidation from the ruling party in the state.

His word: ” The hurricane ( Kalu) is around, you don’t need to be afraid. You know that PDP never won the 2015 election in Abia. During the election they placed Amoured Personnel Carrier ( APC) tank in front of Kalu’s house but this time around it is pay back time. They will be in the opposition now. OUK please give us Abia State!”

On the gale of defection rocking the national ruling party, Adighije said those leaving the party had presidential ambition which they intend to pursue in PDP.

He further boasted that he had not seen ” for now anybody who can defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019″.

Adding his voice, business conglomerate, Dr. Uche Ogah charged APC faithful in the state not to be afraid of anybody as the party now calls the shots.

” I want you to be courageous. APC is very strong in Abia State If they push you push them ten times. If there is a problem call us on phone . We will come there to see you through”, he thundered.

Speaking earlier, Kalu had warned security agencies against any attempt to connive with the ruling party in the state to manipulate the outcome of the 2019 polls.

” If any officer harasses you we will remove his uniform from him”, he ragged.
