2019: Those stockpiling PVCs ‘ll be disappointed – Abia APC chair
From Steve Oko, Umuahia
Chairman of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Abia State, Hon. Donatus Nwamkpa, has said that those busy stockpiling Permanent Voter Card ( PVC) with the intension to use them and rig the 2019 polls would be disappointed.
Nwamkpa who made the declaration while addressing newsmen in Umuahia, vowed that any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the elections would be stoutly resisted by the people, insisting that “votes must count.”
His words: ” Votes will count in 2019; it is one man one vote. Anybody expecting to sit on his house and write results will be resisted by Nigerians.”
Nwamkpa said “APC does not intend to win election through rigging but by convincing the electorates”, adding that “that is why we recognised June 12 election believed to be the freest so far in the country”.
The APC boss also said the party would not tolerate imposition of candidates during its primaries as such action could be counter productive.
” APC won’t impose any candidate on the people because we won’t take peoples’ loyalty for granted. We won’t engage in imposition rascality like the PDP but give the masses the opportunity to elect their choice leaders”
Nwamkpa said the anti corruption posture of President Muhammadu Buhari had led to drastic reduction of corruption in the country contrary to the situation under the PDP.
” You can bear witness that the level of exhibition of ill- gotten wealth has reduced. The level of display of flamboyancy and squandermania has reduced . Corruption has been curtailed in Nigeria today”.
The APC Chairman said efforts were being intensified to resolve the crisis in the party following parallel congress at its just- concluded state congress, dismissing it as a family affair.
He said a panel of eminent members of the party had been set up to reconcile the aggrieved parties, expressing hope that the impasse would soon be resolved.
” We are resolving our differences, and our differences are minor”, he said.
