Gunmen invade police state CID Umuahia

Unspecified number of gunmen, Wednesday night, invaded the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, headquarters of the Nigeria Police, located at Uzuakoli Road.
No fewer than three cops were feared wounded during the raid.
Wawa News Global reports that the raid is coming barely 72 hours after the police paraded 10 of the 14-robbery gang that ambushed a bullion van in July, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
Details of the attack are still sketchy as at the time of filing this report but a source said one of the cops was matcheted by the invaders while two were shot.
The victims were said to have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
There were also fears that the armoury of the station might have been raided by the attackers but efforts to confirm the attack were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna did not pick calls put across to him.
The facility was sometime last year invaded by unknown gunmen who burnt part of the premises after freeing the inmates.
