9th senate ‘ll start without me but I’m hopeful of justice soon – Sen Ohuabunwa
By Steve Oko
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa representing Abia North, has acknowledged that the 9th senate would be inaugurated without him at its beginning but expressed strong confidence that he would later join his colleagues at the red chamber.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senator who lost to the All Progressive Congress ,APC candidate, Orji Uzor Kalu at the poll in a very controversial circumstance said he was hopeful of getting justice at the tribunal.
Ohuabunwa who claimed he was robbed of his electoral victory at the poll said he had faith the judiciary would restore his “stolen mandate.”
The former Speaker, ECOWAS parliament stated this while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia.

According to him the cancellation of the results of his strongholds including his own ward and entire local government area was premeditated and calculated at robbing him of victory.
He insisted that though the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had issues certificate of return to the former governor, such action was a gross error as Kalu was never returned nor declared winner of the election.
Ohuabunwa said Kalu was only a temporal holder of the document , explaining that the judiciary will soon interprete the position of law to all parties.

He further argued that since the margin of win was far less than the total number of canceled votes, the election ought to have been declared inconclusive in the first place and a rerun scheduled.
Ohuabunwa maintained that the Returning Officer never declared Kalu or any candidate returned but merely announced the scores garnered by each party at the poll.
He expressed rude shock that Kalu quickly laid claims to victory for merely posting the highest number of votes “even though fraudulently,” yet INEC looked the other way.

” There was no declaration of winner in Abia North. Certificate of return was given to Kalu in error.
“But I know the charade will not stand the test of time. Can you imagine that the result of my entire Arochukwu LGA with over 70,000 registered voters was cancelled?
” It is only a matter of time and I will get justice. I believe in due process and that is why I have gone to the tribunal so that the entire exercise will be x-rayed. “
He urged his teem of supporters to remain calm and wait the outcome of the tribunal.
