Poll postponement : Former Heads of state, INEC meet
*US, EU, other foreign observers in secret meeting
By Steve Oko
Reports reaching Wawa News Global desk say former Heads of State are now meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Abuja.
The meeting is coming on the heels of the sudden postponement of the 2019 General Elections by INEC.
This is as foreign observers who came to monitor the election from the United States of America, European Union, and others were said to be holding an emergency meeting in Abuja.
The observers are expected to take a common position over the development which has continued to elicit reactions.
INEC had fixed a stakeholders meeting for 2pm at the National Collation Centre in Abuja, but the stakeholders’ meeting could not immediately commence because of the parley with the country’s former leaders.
“The Chairman and National Commissioners would have been here, but they are currently meeting with former Heads of state. But they will soon be here,” Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison told the stakeholders.
There has been public outcry against INEC and the ruling APC over the poll postponement.
